High Meadows of Hoosick, LLC is a certified organic dairy operation located in Hoosick Falls, NY shipping our milk into Stonyfield in Londonderry, NH. We currently have 260 milking and dry cows along with 100 head of young stock. Our herd is comprised of mostly Jerseys with a splash of Holsteins and crossbreeds. We own 300 acres of which 260 are pastures. 550 acres are rented for forage production and 50 acres for bred heifer pasture.
Cows are housed in a 3 row free stall barn when not grazing and milked in a swing 16 Dairymaster parlor. Calves are group fed on milk and out on pasture after 4 months of age. Middle aged heifers have run in shelters and bred heifers out winter with access to woods for wind protection.
Our goals are to maximize pasture intake during the grazing season and continually improve them holistically through good practices. On the forage production side we are committed to no-till and cover cropping and sequestering carbon. We are also looking at adding additional enterprises such as poultry and small ruminates to our farm.
