Dairy Assistant
The Dairy Assistant will work with our Dairy Manager to perform day-to-day livestock and cropping duties on our diverse, organic farm. This work includes but is not limited to parlor milking and care of 60 cow dairy herd, grazing management, assistance in cropping and haying on 90 organic acres, general farm maintenance such as mowing and fencing, general equipment maintenance, and accurate record-keeping. Qualified applicants for the Dairy Assistant position will have a passion for grazing, stress-free livestock husbandry, and sustainable farming with an emphasis on conservation and ecology. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 seasons of livestock management experience and an understanding of the safe operation and maintenance for basic farm machinery. Livestock require daily care so some weekends, early mornings and late evenings may be required. We seek employees who have a desire to work here for more than one season. Housing nearby the farm may be available.
