Profile of Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate must have experience managing a dairy herd, including
grazing. An ideal candidate would also have the following:
● Willingness to work long hours, when necessary.
● Ability to work well with others and manage staff as needed.
● Experience in animal health and parlor management.
● Knowledge of organic standards.
● Goal oriented and business minded
● Capable of maintaining records and following protocols
● Comfortable operating machinery
● Fencing, light construction, and milking equipment maintenance skills would be
useful.
Timeline and Other Details:
● Candidates interviewed in Summer and Fall of 2024.
● Successful candidate starts by December 2024.
● Serves as hired herdsman for at least one year before exploring sharemilking
options. Salary range for herdsman is expected to be between $40,000 and
$50,000 per year with additional benefits package available.
● If the successful candidate is interested and is the right fit for the farm, a sharemilking contract could be developed as soon as 2026.
